We begin our tour with a drive through Belfast to arrive on the shores of Strangford lough. Our route takes us along the edge of the Irish sea with photostops in Donaghadee, Portavogie and Portaferry where we take a gentle cruise across the lough on the Strangford ferry. On arrival in Strangford we visit Audleystown castle (used to film ‘The Twins’ in Game of Thrones) followed by CastleWard (the actual Winterfell castle location in the same series).
Both locations offer stunning loughside walks and the chance for Game of Thrones fans to see in person the site where Brann Stark learnt his archery skills and where Ned and Tulisa secretly fell in love!
We then continue our journey along the coastal route to Downpatrick where we visit St Patricks Grave in the cemetery of the Anglican Cathedral and tell how St Patricks influence remains strong today.
Following lunch at the St Patricks Centre
and a short visit to the Down County Museum
we continue along the majestic Mournes for a final stop in the picturesque seaside resort of Newcastle where you can walk along the stunning beach and seaside pathways.
We complete our journey with a return drive along the other side of Strangford lough.
